Sam Nelson is a versatile dancer and choreographer originally from Austin, Texas who is trained in all styles of dance with a strong focus on Contemporary and Lyrical. He was a featured contestant on So You Think You Can Dance Season 16 and finished in the top 15 Guys on the hit TV show. Sam has worked for artists Tame Impala, JP Saxe Leroy Sanchez, Clinton Kane, Blake McGrath, and Nia Sioux. As a Company Member with Embodiment the Collective, Sam has performed at NBC’s World of Dance Championships, the Primetime Emmys, and Creative Arts Emmys. His choreography can be seen on America’s Got Talent, SYTYCD, and in numerous music videos. Some of Sam’s additional credits include Adidas, Ivy Park, Vidcon, Six Flags, and Amazon Prime TV.
Sam lives in the LA area and is represented by Movement Talent Agency. He is on
faculty teaching weekly classes at Millennium Dance Complex LA and is a featured choreographer for Redwall Tutorials, MDC’s online dance platform. Sam is a guest faculty member for the Dance program at Cal State Fullerton University and a guest choreographer for Washington State University. He is on faculty teaching Contemporary with Intrigue Dance Convention and The Streetz Dance Convention and is guest faculty for Refresh Dance Convention, Nexus Dance Convention and Transcend Dance Convention. Sam enjoys working with dancers and studios across the country teaching master classes, intensives, and setting choreography. His intricate choreography, unique style, and award-winning pieces have won many National and Regional titles, choreography
awards, and scholarships, and have earned dancers’ admittance into college dance programs including Juilliard, Marymount Manhattan, the University of Arizona, and more.
